If you find either a dog or a cat, please help by taking the "What You Can Do" steps which follow. If you find a stray cat, also take the steps and precautions listed in the "Cat" section below.
What You Can Do
If You Want to Keep the Animal
If the owner doesn't surface, you may decide to keep the animal. If you do, you still need to report the finding to the proper Animal Control Officer in the county where you found it (see list below).
If you assume responsibility for a stray, please be sure it is fed properly, sheltered, and not allowed to roam where it may injure family pets, livestock, wildlife, or cause a traffic accident.
If a dog you find is injured, PROD is able to help you nurse it back to health with our Good Sam or Frankee’s Fund, described elsewhere on this site.
PROD will be able to provide you with financial assistance in getting a canine neutered.
