There aren’t enough homes for all the animals who need them. About 13,800 dogs and cats are euthanized every day in U.S. Shelters. Be sure you consider all the alternatives before giving up your animal to a shelter.

Unfortunate Circumstances

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try to avoid having to give up our pets, conditions get beyond our control and we need to find them new homes.

If you need to find a new home for your dog, please take the time to find the best possible situation for your canine companion.

Also, please do your pet and the rest of the world a favor by making sure your dog is spayed or neutered before you release ownership to someone else. Doing so is the responsible thing to do. It will make it easier for you to find a new home for your pet, and it will help to prevent even more unwanted litters of puppies.

If you haven't been successful in finding a new home for your dog, here are some alternatives to consider. Click here for a printable version.

Hood River News (541-386-1234) or White Salmon Enterprise (509-493-2112)
•     Will place a weekly advertisement for free if the pet is under $500.  DO NOT advertise your pet “for free”.  Ask at least $50, there are dishonest people who obtain animals for profit.  A free pet is a disposable pet.
